Assessments of the Political Situation in Kyrgyzstan 2005 - Key Findings
An increasing number of Kyrgyzstanis believe that they can change their country’s situation by voting, believe their country’s recent elections have been conducted fairly, and support new methods of ensuring electoral fairness. These include inking voters’ fingers, using transparent ballot boxes and the presence of domestic and international observers. A majority also say some of the seats in parliament should be reserved for women and think changes to the constitution should be approved of by a popular referendum.

Post-Earthquake Constitutional Analysis of the Interruption of the Legislative and Executive Powers in Haiti
Due to the earthquake on January 12, 2010, elections for the members of the House of Representatives and one third of the Senate scheduled for February 28 and April 4, 2010, were canceled. As a result, Haiti will have no legislative power as of May 8, 2010. There will be a rupture in the constitutional order.

Haiti Constituency Building for Judicial Reform (2001-2004)
In Haiti, IFES worked with civil society between 2001 and 2004. The project, funded by USAID, aimed to build coalitions and promote support for justice sector reform and respect for human rights. The program strengthened the capacity of civil society to be effective, knowledgeable advocates around a common justice reform agenda.
