Elections on Trial Project: Inaugural Meeting of the Africa Electoral Jurisprudence Working Group
IFES is working to establish regional peer networks of election arbiters, which allow judges and election commissioners to discuss best practices and share comparative examples of how other countries deal with specific categories of complaints and disputes. Following the inaugural meeting of the Europe and Eurasia Electoral Jurisprudence Network in Lithuania last year, the pilot Africa network event took place in South Africa on April 16-17.

Regional Director on “Political Campaign Finance: Safeguarding Electoral Integrity in Africa"
As part of its annual report, the Wilson Center Africa Program asked IFES Regional Director for Africa Rushdi Nackerdien to contribute an essay on campaign finance. His piece, “Political Campaign Finance: Safeguarding Electoral Integrity in Africa,” examined the role of election management bodies in fostering accountability and transparency.

The Integrity of Elections in Asia: Policy Lessons Applied
In response to a recent study by Max Grömping entitled The Integrity of Elections in Asia: Policy Lessons from Expert Evaluations, IFES produced a briefing paper with some examples of policy lessons applied in practice across Asia. IFES has worked in Asia for the past three decades supporting election management bodies, civil society and other electoral stakeholders in their efforts to promote electoral integrity.

Political Finance in Post-Conflict Societies
This study of political finance in post-conflict society identifies lessons learned from international donor-funded efforts to support political processes in post-conflict environments in general and the funding of political parties and campaign finance in particular. The document consists of eight case studies that seek to improve our understanding not only of the political dynamics of post-conflict situations but also of how to rally international support for holding elections and supporting democratization under such circumstances.

Pre-Election Technical Assessment: Republic of Bangladesh, September 2000
This pre-election technical assessment regarding the October 2001 parliamentary elections in Bangladesh details the IFES team's aim to identify interventions that could build confidence and possibly create inducements for the opposition to reengage in the election process. With the above objectives in mind, the report discusses IFES development of a number of proposals centered on building public confidence, and promoting transparency and inclusiveness in the administration of the election process. The May/June 1999 edition of Ballot 99: South Africa Votes, published by Independent Newspapers, provides voter information, political party policy stances, election articles, cartoons, and advertisements, as well as interviews with South African citizens and their stances on current issues. Also included in this edition is a message from South African president Nelson Mandela that urges the public to exercise their right to vote.

Bangladesh Pre-Election Technical Assessment (January-February 1995) for the Sixth Parliamentary Elections projected for Winter 1995-96
This 1995 report evaluates Bangladesh's administrative systems for the delivery of electoral services such as constituency delimitation, voter identification and registration, balloting and election administration, poll worker training, vote tabulation, voter education, campaign practices, and media and civic participation prior to parliamentary elections. The report continues by identifying feasible areas for short-term technical assistance in anticipation of the parliamentary elections and provides a framework for public and private-funded assistance projects. Lastly, the report recommends longer term improvements to Bangladesh's election process as well as concrete actions which could be taken by USAlD and the NGO community in strengthening democratic institutions.
