European Election Management Bodies Participate in Second Electoral Technology and Cyber-Hygiene Course
Following the success of its June 2019 pilot course, IFES welcomed 12 election management body representatives for its second iteration of the Electoral Technology and Cyber-Hygiene course. Participants spent four days learning the use of technology in elections, how to integrate safe cyber behavior into their work and how to mitigate online harassment and violence against women in elections.

Elections in Kazakhstan: 2016 Parliamentary Elections
Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections were originally slated for late 2016, when the lower house’s five-year term was set to expire. However, following a parliamentary initiative, Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbaev, dissolved the lower house of the country’s Parliament, the Majilis, and called snap parliamentary elections for March 20.

IFES Supports New Biometric Voter Registration System in Yemen
Since 2012, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has been providing technical assistance to Yemen’s electoral body, the Supreme Commission of Elections and Referendum (SCER), to develop and implement the country’s new biometric voter registration system (BVR). In May 2014, the SCER conducted a pilot test of the new system, registering nearly 19,000 individuals out of a total estimated voting age population of 24,000 in a single electoral district in the capital of Sana’a.
