IFES CEO Presents Youth Engagement Strategies at Indian Election Commission Conference
On January 24, the Election Commission of India hosted an international conference in New Delhi focused on sharing successful strategies to empower young and future voters throughout the country. During the conference, International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) President and CEO William R. Sweeney, Jr. presented IFES’ approach to engaging young people, as well as some of the organization’s programmatic methods.

IFES Announces Winners of 2016 Photography Contest
Two compelling photographs depicting insightful moments of Election Day in India and voter registration in Nepal have won the top prizes of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems’ (IFES) 2016 Photography Contest. They were part of 10 photographs selected as finalists among the more than 100 images that were submitted to the democracy-themed competition.

“Campagne nationale d’education electorale” is a pamphlet from May 2005, available in French, which educates readers about their right and responsibility to vote. The document, published with the help of IFES, prepares citizens for the 2005 Presidential Election in Guinea where they are strongly encouraged to vote. Additionally, the pamphlet provides information about voter registration and what to look for in a candidate.

La Citoyenneté
“La Citoyenneté” is a booklet from August 1997, available in French, which is made up of a comic strip and text explaining to government structure in Guinea and the rights guaranteed to Guinean citizens. The document, published by SLECG (Syndicat Libre des Enseignants et Chercheurs de Guinee), states that the objective of the comic strip is the encourage youth to take a greater role in politics and their civic duties in order to deepen the state of democracy in Guinea.

The document, published by SLECG (Syndicat Libre des Enseignants et Chercheurs de Guinee), seeks to form conscientious citizens of Guinea by helping the youth develop a sense of morality and civic duty – it provides different methods for doing so such as lessons and exercises to be done in school.
