Papua New Guinea Develops Strategic Plan Ahead of 2022 National Election
The Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission (PNGEC), with the support of IFES, conducted its strategic planning process from October 2017 to March 2018 with the aim of developing its 2018-2022 Corporate Plan. The plan will guide the PNGEC over the next five years through its preparation for the 2022 national election and implementation of long-term civic education, inclusion and legal reform initiatives.

Youth Forums Offer Hope to Young Syrians
In 2016, IFES assisted Syrian organizations based in Gaziantep, Turkey to found Musharaka, a forum to encourage civic engagement of Syrians living in Gaziantep. Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections were originally slated for late 2016, when the lower house’s five-year term was set to expire. However, following a parliamentary initiative, Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbaev, dissolved the lower house of the country’s Parliament, the Majilis, and called snap parliamentary elections for March 20.
