Voters in the Dominican Republic will go to the polls May 20 to elect a president and vice president in the first election held under the constitutional reforms of 2010. This paper deals with the role of money in politics, and in particular with certain efforts by countries around the world to regulate this role. In the current world (and probably since we first started organising ourselves politically), money in politics or political finance as we commonly know it is a central aspect of any political system, whether democratic or undemocratic, "developed" or "developing" and regardless of political culture or tradition.

Election Observation Report of the Elections to the House of Representatives, Republic of Croatia, 29 October 1995
This report was completed in 1995, shortly after the adoption of new electoral laws in Croatia. IFES election observers arrived to monitor the October 1995 Parliamentary elections. IFES concerns about the new election laws and the manner in which they were adopted along with the consequences of their adoption are discussed in the report. The report also provides a break down and explanation of electoral laws in Croatia.

Brazil 1994 Election: Technology Assessment Report, February 28, 1995
This Election Technology Assessment from the 1994 elections in Brazil details IFES’ audit of the vote tabulation software used in Brazilian elections. The report focuses on the technological innovations in Brazilian electoral administration, the future direction of its modernization, and the applicability of the concepts and technologies involved to election administration in other countries.
Specifically,
IFES conducted studies on the Brazilian development of a cost-effective indigenous election technology which could be applied to other developing countries.
