Election Snapshot: IFES FAQs in the Global Year of Elections
2024 was a transformative year for elections. More than 4.3 billion voters made their voices heard by casting votes in 140 elections around the world.
Many of 2024’s elections faced significant adversity. Political violence, lack of transparency, information manipulation, media bias, and technical problems made the act of voting more difficult.
