Preventing and Mitigating Electoral Violence in Guatemala
The ability for people to participate in elections free from the fear of harm is essential to inclusive, credible elections and protected by the right to human security and universal suffrage. In Central America, and more particularly in Guatemala, this freedom of fear has not been a reality for many citizens. To help address this problem, IFES has been providing technical support to the Guatemalan Supreme Electoral Tribunal on electoral violence prevention and response coordination since 2011.

Papua New Guinea Develops Strategic Plan Ahead of 2022 National Election
The Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission (PNGEC), with the support of IFES, conducted its strategic planning process from October 2017 to March 2018 with the aim of developing its 2018-2022 Corporate Plan. Guatemala’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal and USAID Formalize Cooperation on Electoral Processes
On March 26, Guatemala’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) signed a letter of understanding (LoU) with USAID to formalize their cooperation through the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening “Electoral Governance and Reforms Program.” IFES worked with USAID and the TSE to finalize the LoU draft prior to the ceremony.
