Elections on Trial Project: Inaugural Meeting of the Europe and Eurasia Electoral Jurisprudence Working Group
IFES is working to establish peer networks in Europe and Eurasia and Africa, supported by the United States Agency for International Development. Regional knowledge exchange allows judges and election commissioners to discuss best practices and share comparative examples of how other countries deal with specific categories of complaints and disputes.

IFES Assists Youth “Superchangers” in Kosovo Amplify their Voices
Recent studies have identified the alienation of Kosovo youth from electoral, political and governance processes as a potential threat to the peaceful development of a unified society, and the basis for extremism and potential radicalization of youth by clerics and political interest groups. In light of these findings, IFES implemented a year-long program focused on youth engagement throughout Kosovo to help mitigate some of these issues.

Kosovo Motivational Diploma Spot
The general theme of the campaign was where were you when the decision was made and showed how your life is impacted when you fail to participate in the process. Since employment is considered a primary concern and corruption a major but lesser concern we designed a spot that used employment as its major theme and directed the piece towards a target audience of young male voters. The spot also showed how corruption influences your ability to find employment and undermines normal avenues of self improvement such as education.

Kosovo Motivational Water Serbian Spot
The general theme of the campaign was where were you when the decision was made and showed how your life is impacted when you fail to participate in the process. Serbian voters expressed a great deal of concern about many areas but since this was a municipal election we chose to focus on the provision of utilities as a theme with a broad gender appeal.

Developing a New BRIDGE Module on Political Finance
On May 18 – 19, 2009, IFES and International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance co-hosted a working group of political finance and BRIDGE experts to begin the development process for a new BRIDGE module on political finance. BRIDGE is a comprehensive curriculum on electoral processes. The gathering was held in Stockholm.
