Manatt Fellow Presents on Election Dispute Resolution in Africa
In September 2019, IFES Manatt Fellow Tinashe Hofisi presented on presidential election petitions in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe at the 14th Annual Symposium of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa. Elections in Palestine: 2017 Local Elections
Palestine will hold elections on May 13, with voters choosing 3,849 members of municipal and village councils in the West Bank. Elections have been called for 391 councils. However, voting will only be held for 145 councils.

Elections in Uganda: 2016 General Elections
On February 18, Ugandans will vote for President, 290 Members of Parliament who are directly elected to represent 290 constituencies, as well as 112 District Women Members of Parliament. A presidential candidate must receive 50 percent plus one vote to avoid a run-off election. Members of Parliament are elected in single-member constituencies through a simple majority system.

Palestinian Local Elections 2011
On Tuesday, 8 February 2011, the Palestinian Authority issued a renewed call for local elections to be held on 9 July 2011. The call follows last June’s Cabinet decision to cancel elections and the subsequent High Court ruling in December that the cancellation was, indeed, illegal.
