Libyan Teachers Participate in Civic Education Curriculum Training
In partnership with the Libyan Ministry of Education, IFES conducted a training in early December 2018 for more than 120 educators from across Libya in preparation for the nationwide roll out of a new civic education curriculum for grades four through nine. The training familiarized teachers with the new curriculum developed by IFES and introduced new and interactive teaching methodologies.

Partnership with Libyan Ministry of Education to Promote Civic Education in Public Schools
On August 4, 2018, IFES and the Libyan Ministry of Education (MoE) celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at underpinning future cooperation in Libya. Libya Pilots New Civic Education Curriculum for Students
From March 1 to 4, IFES worked with Libya’s Ministry of Education to train more than 30 Libyan teachers across the country to use and implement a new civic education curriculum for students in grades 7-9. In April, the pilot was successfully launched in 25 schools in 14 cities across Libya, and a nation-wide rollout is anticipated for the 2018/9 school year.

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is deeply saddened by the assassination of Libyan human rights lawyer and activist Salwa Bugaighis and strongly condemns this cowardly act of violence. We offer our condolences to her family and remember her dedication, commitment and ultimate sacrifice for women’s participation in the political process and equal rights in Libya.
