On April 6, Gambian voters will elect their members of the unicameral National Assembly. Marked by the country’s first-ever democratic transition of power and the end of former president Yahya Jammeh's 22 year-rule, the Gambia is in a new era of governance under President-elect Adama Barrow. These parliamentary elections will most likely be very competitive as the ruling coalition has broken apart, and the nine political parties will be running separately.

This report discusses the June 1990 elections in Bulgaria. The report discusses the roles of the Bulgarian Central Electoral Commission, political parties and election officials. The document further discusses the role IFES played in the elections. The report ends with recommendations for the Bulgarian Grand National Assembly on how to improve the electoral system. This report summarizes the findings of an IFES pre-election assessment team in Bulgaria from April, 1990. The document reports on meetings with the Central Election Commission, leaders and representatives of political parties and leading citizens groups. Further, the report discusses the electoral process, the role of the constitution, electoral law, composition and role of the central electoral commission and regional electoral commissions, voter registration procedures, the methods of ballot security, vote counting and verification, and the contest and appeals procedure. It also discussed the role of political parties in the campaign and in the election.
