Guyana Elections Commission Vote '97 Enhancing the Electoral System
Prior to the December 15th, 1997 Guyana elections for President and members of the National Assembly, the Guyana Elections Commission published this pamphlet detailing voting instructions, registration information, and candidate information for Guyana’s citizens. This study of political finance in post-conflict society identifies lessons learned from international donor-funded efforts to support political processes in post-conflict environments in general and the funding of political parties and campaign finance in particular. The document consists of eight case studies that seek to improve our understanding not only of the political dynamics of post-conflict situations but also of how to rally international support for holding elections and supporting democratization under such circumstances.

Regional Director on “The Elections We Want” in Africa

Robust Multimedia Campaign Supports Liberia's Pivotal 2017 Elections
Conducting elections in Liberia is a challenging endeavor. Along with a lack of basic transportation and communications infrastructure, over half the population (53%) is illiterate. As such, civic and voter awareness campaigns cannot be conducted through many traditional mediums like print media. In partnership with the National Elections Commission and 27 grassroots civil society organizations (CSOs) in all 15 counties of the country, the IFES Liberia team developed a creative and compelling voter education and awareness campaign.
