Nigeria: Debating a New Voters Register Four Months before Election Day
Earlier this year, Nigeria held the world’s attention with the illness and subsequent death of President Umaru Yar'Adua. After his passing, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan assumed the presidency. In January 2011, the tenure of the current presidency will expire and Nigeria will hold presidential elections to elect the country’s next leader.

Local Government Elections in Nigeria: December 5, 1998 - Report of the AAEA/IFES Joint International Observer Mission
The Association of African Election Authorities (AAEA) and the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) undertook a joint mission to observe the December 5, 1998 local government elections in Nigeria. This final report on the December 5 elections, and of the monitoring of the immediate postelection period presents the observations of the AAEA/IFES missions with the aim to contribute to the preparations for future elections.

Cambodia Electoral Assistance Project 1996-98 Final Report
This report discusses IFES’ efforts working with the Cambodian Government to strengthen and improve the electoral framework in preparation for the July 1998 parliamentary elections. IFES provided on-site technical expertise and drafted election laws and regulations, prepared an election calendar and budget, designed a voter registration system, initiated recruiting and training programs for election officials and pollworkers and procured and distributed election supplies and equipment.

This report summarizes IFES findings from the July 1998 Cambodian elections. The report provides a background of IFES activities in Cambodia, and, more prudently, IFES’ objective to strengthen the electoral process in Cambodia through objective observation and reporting on the election. The document, published by the Independent National Electoral Commission, provides information about timing, location and importance of the registration process.
