In response to a recent study by Max Grömping entitled The Integrity of Elections in Asia: Policy Lessons from Expert Evaluations, IFES produced a briefing paper with some examples of policy lessons applied in practice across Asia. Timor-Leste Parliamentary Elections, July 2017: Disability Access Monitoring
For Timor-Leste's 2017 presidential and parliamentary elections, IFES supported local disabled people’s organization Ra’es Hadomi Timor Oan (RHTO) to conduct disability access monitoring. For the parliamentary elections, RHTO deployed access monitors in every municipality and deployed monitors in the capital city for the presidential election. Elections in Timor-Leste: 2017 Presidential Elections
On March 20, Timorese citizens will vote to elect their next president. Eight candidates will by vying for the presidency in this election. If no candidate receives at least 50 percent plus one of the valid votes in the first round, a second round will be held on April 20, 2017. The 2017 presidential election is the first national election to be managed by the National Election Commission and Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration without substantial logistical support from the United Nations.

Local elections in Timor-Leste are scheduled for October 29. Citizens will vote for Village Chiefs, delegates for Village Councils, and Hamlet Chiefs.
