Photo Gallery: Voters in 32 Districts Cast Votes in Nepal’s Historic Elections
On November 26, 2017, Nepal held the first phase of its first national and state-level legislature elections since the promulgation of its new constitution on September 20, 2015. Voters headed to one of 2,919 polling locations across 32 districts in the hill and mountain regions of Nepal, with the remaining 45 districts preparing to vote on December 7. These districts represented 3,191,945 of the 15,427,938 total registered voters. These elections mark an important step in Nepal’s transition to a federal state.

The Cycle of Corruption: Elections and the Abuse of State Resources
In many ways, elections are a central component in cycles of systemic corruption. IFES conducted a two-year research project to develop an assessment methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of a given country’s framework for addressing the abuse of state resources in election campaigns. The final product of this project is a detailed methodology that specifically examines three categories of state resources: state personnel; state funds and physical resources; and official government communications to the public.

Preliminary Electoral Results Transmission Document Presented to El Salvador’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal
On May 31, IFES delivered its final document on the 2019 transmission of preliminary electoral results (TREP) to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of El Salvador. The document describes and analyzes all operational and logistical procedures that took place as part of the TREP for El Salvador’s presidential election on February 3, 2019.
