Manatt Fellow Presents on Election Dispute Resolution in Africa
In September 2019, IFES Manatt Fellow Tinashe Hofisi presented on presidential election petitions in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe at the 14th Annual Symposium of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa. He highlighted the unique jurisdictional tools available to apex courts in adjudication of presidential elections and their effect on judicial outcomes.

On August 12 and 13, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems’ (IFES) Chief of Party for Jordan, Hermann Thiel, facilitated a workshop on electoral systems for Jordanian political parties, organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI), IFES’ partner in USAID’s Consortium for Elections and Political Processes (CEPPS). Health Crisis in West Africa Erodes Peace and Democratization Efforts

This health crisis has resulted in more than 1,350 reported deaths so far in a region that has been moving steadily toward peace and democratization. This outbreak of the Ebola virus has already killed more people than any other Ebola epidemic in history.

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the Jordanian Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) conducted a “Train the Facilitator” (TtF) workshop in Amman from May 27 to June 7, 2014.
