Legal Analysis of Campaign Finance Regulation in Tunisia
The difficulties the ISIE and other stakeholders experienced in enforcing campaign finance regulations were aggravated by both a lack of expertise and the shortcomings of the Decree law No 35 on elections to the NCA. IFES produced an assessment of legal provisions pertaining to campaign finance and its implementation during the NCA elections. The report included recommendations on possible future improvements that could serve as a basis for the establishment of legislation on funding electoral campaign.

Distribution of Parliamentary Seats for the 2009 Elections by Electoral District
Under the existing Electoral Code (Article 72), the number of seats contested for the 2009 Tunisian parliamentary elections was determined using a formula based on population data. There is one seat in parliament for every 48,700 of population (i.e. 214 seats in total).

Political Participation of Women and Men with Disabilities in Tunisia: An IFES Assessment
Over a two-week period around Tunisia's 2018 municipal elections, IFES conducted a disability rights assessment mission to look at the barriers and opportunities related to political participation of women and men with disabilities, focusing primarily on the preparations for and conduct of the elections. IFES’ focus group participants identified a number of recommendations for Tunisian stakeholders, and the resulting assessment is available for download in English and Arabic and in Arabic audio format.

Tunisia Voter Registration & Voter Confidence Assessment Survey
Tunisia, the country that sparked the pro-democracy revolts across the Middle East and North Africa, is currently scheduled to hold elections for Constituent Assembly in July. IFES conducted a nationwide survey in late March and early April to gain insight into the citizenry’s expectations for these elections, the readiness of the electorate, and the general confidence in the elections process. The data provides powerful indicators of where Tunisians stand before the election.

The annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3, commemorates the human rights of persons with disabilities. The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.” In 2018, IFES partnered with disabled people’s organizations in every region of the world to develop new tools and approaches to empower people with disabilities to participate in political life.
