Elections in Georgia: 2017 Municipal Elections
On October 21, Georgians will go to the polls to elect their municipal government representatives. Across Georgia, citizens will elect 2,058 council members to 64 local councils (sakrebulos) of self-governing cities or communities. In addition, the mayor of Tbilisi as well as mayors of four self-governed cities and 59 mayors of self-governing communities will be elected directly.

This assessment served as the pilot test of the Abuse of State Resources Research and Assessment Framework assessment methodology and draws on detailed desk research as well as a field research mission to Georgia in May 2017. On December 18, Ivoirian voters will elect 255 members of the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament. Following the approval of a new constitution via an October 2016 referendum, National Assembly members will be elected for four-year terms instead of five, as was previously the case.
